IMPORTANT NOTICE, THURSDAY NIGHT RACES CANCELLED FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS:

For your safety we have, regrettably, had to cancel the next 2 Thursday Night races. With the road closure of SH 1 through Taupiri, traffic is being diverted down Bankier Rd and Lake Rd. This area has become extremely busy with trucks and vehicles. Unfortunately , as much as we hate to cancel, we had to make the call before anyone got hurt.

All going to plan, we will have our last official race on December 12th and a fun race with prize giving and goodies on December 19th.

In the meantime, a reminder that you could head out to Morrinsville races on a Wednesday night or Te Awamutu races on a Tuesday night.

The Velo Workshop HCCC Summer Spring commences on Thursday 10th October and finishes on Thursday 12th December 2024.  Rider “sign on” is at the club trailer outside the Horsham Downs school. Please sign on at least 10 minutes before your start time.

The series is raced on the Bankier Road course and is split into A, B, C, D, E and Under 15 grades.  Registration opens at 5:15pm.  The first start time for the U15s handicap race is 6:00pm.  Other grades start from 6:15pm.  Races are electronically timed (transponders on front left fork), race bibs must also be worn.

The lap length is 10.5 km.  Under 15’s usually ride one lap and the other grades 2 or 3 laps (depending on day light).  The race finish is on Henderson Road, approximately 300 metres from the Horsham Downs Road corner.  Details for the evening are on a notice board near the trailer.

The Individual Time Trial (ITT) is on the 14th November and will count towards the series points.  To encourage ITT participation points will be allocated separately to both Road bikes and Time Trial bikes.

Nine races in the series count for points.  Series medal presentations will be on the 12th December at Horsham Downs after the finish of the evening’s (non-points) race.

Safety

All roads are open to the public.  Always obey the road rules including keeping left. Traffic Management is in place to alert other road users of the cycle race and assist with your safety.  Follow the instruction of marshals.  Respect other road users.  Respect riders you are racing with.  Ride safely.  The use of rear and front lights and bright coloured clothing to increase your visibility is encouraged. Remember have fun!
